Levi Lusko preaches that seasons of "spiraling" - times when life feels wobbly, anxious, or aimless - are actually opportunities for blessing and spiritual growth. He opens with the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-6) and argues that when we are emptied or broken, God makes space to fill us and reveal himself more fully, as Isaiah 6 illustrates. Lusko tells a personal "death wobble" story from his Jeep and his own midlife spiral to illustrate how unexpected breakdowns expose deeper needs. He closes with six practical responses for anyone spiraling: stick to the plan, peel away the extra, interpret the struggle accurately, retool for the present and future, attack the problem from all angles, and look for beauty and God's presence in creation.
“What Jesus is saying and the title of the message today is essentially blessed are the spiraling.” · Levi Lusko
Take it with you
When you find yourself spiraling, avoid making permanent decisions out of temporary emotion. Practically, stay the course while you remove nonessential burdens, get wise counsel, and address the issue holistically - spiritually, emotionally, physically. Look for God in the small beauties of creation and use this season's comfort to later comfort others.
